WASHINGTON, DC–(Marketwired – May 22, 2014) – In April, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the White House had indicated that President Obama was considering additional clemency applications with the intention to “restore a degree of justice, fairness and proportionality for deserving individuals who do not pose a threat to public safety.” According to Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary, the President has turned to the Department of Justice, asking for assistance in setting up a process that guarantees that any individual who has a valid case for commutation can trust that his or her petition will be seen and thoroughly evaluated. New clemency criteria, which are yet to be released, could result in thousands of new applications.
